During a study abroad trip during the Summer of 2023, I had traveled to the Basel Academy of Art and Design in Switzerland, where we took a poster workshop that had focused on expressive handwriting. The focus I had chosen for this poster was the feeling of being content, as well as the feelings of discontent surrounding it. “ContentDiscontent” encapsulates the coexistence of both in one’s mind, and how one must be content with what is inside their control, rather than focusing on the feeling of being discontent. Being content is calm, and can sometimes be pretty and even beautiful. Being discontent can be chaotic, scary, and messy; the depiction of both of these feelings in this poster conveys all of those and more.
